Hi,
I have a 21 year old daughter. Her father has not paid child support in about 18 years. I filed for and was granted child support in California.
We have lived in Nebraska for at least 16 years and her father lives in Puerto Rico. We just located him. Do you know what statute of limitation for arrears would apply in this situation? Would it be 5 year after her mature date which is Puerto Rico's statute of limitation? Or would it be Nebraska's or California's statute of limitation, which don't have expiration dates?

Thank you for your time.

Harassment by debt collectors in any form is a violation of the FDCPA and is not tolerated by the practitioners of the Act. In many cases, the Act has been instrumental in keeping the unfair debt collectors at bay. Knowledge of rights in the FDCPA can help the consumer keep debt collection harassment away.

Nice article. I totally agree with you when you say that more and more people are turning to debt counseling. It's so much more effective and you don't have to go through the hassle of negotiating with creditors since they do that on your behalf as well.
